Has Planet 9 been SPOTTED? Astronomer reveals fresh evidence of mysterious world lurking in our solar system
Stargazer uncovers tantalising clues pointing to the existence of an undiscovered ninth planet way out in space
Although the world was electrified by claims that a mysterious ninth planet was hidden on the edge of our solar system, not everyone was convinced by the claims.
Now a celebrated astronomer has presented research which appears to finally prove that Planet 9 is real.
Mke Brown - the scientist who first discovered evidence of Planet 9 - has uncovered more evidence of its existence.
In a tweet, he claimed to have tracked its movements through the Kuiper Belt, a band of comets and asteroids encircling the solar system.
He said the graph above was clear evidence that a "KBO", or Kuiper Belt Object, was journeying on an unusual orbit around the sun.
What's more, the astronomer claimed the chances of his observations being a "statistical fluke" were about 0.001%.
Deadly weather on 'poison planet' revealed: Scientists expose grim conditions on super-Earth that's made of DIAMONDAnn-Marie Madigan, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, recently claimed there may not be a planet out there after all .
Although Madigan admitted recent sightings and observations indicated something "strange" was happening way out on the solar system's furthest fringes, she offered a different explanation.
Her research indicates the presence of a massive circlet of asteroid and dwarf planets similar to the Kuiper Belt.
This would mean Planet 9 does not actually exist.
"We should have a new Kuiper Belt that's far more massive than the current-day Kuiper Belt, at larger distances," Madigan said during a talk at the SETI Institute.
