Paramount+ has cancelled Halo.
The news comes a few months after Season 2 of the live-action video game adaptation premiered on the streamer in February. Amblin Television, Xbox and 343 Industries are currently shopping Halo in hopes of finding it a new home, Deadline understands.
“We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. We wish everyone the best going forward,” a spokesperson for Paramount+ said in a statement Thursday.
Added 343 Industries: “We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future. We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.”

In Season 2 of Halo, Master Chief John-117 leads his team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant. In the wake of a shocking event on a desolate planet, John cannot shake the feeling that his war is about to change and risks everything to prove what no one else will believe – that the Covenant are preparing to attack humanity’s greatest stronghold. With the galaxy on the brink, John embarks on a journey to find the key to humankind’s salvation, or its extinction — the Halo.
Led by showrunner and executive producer David Wiener (Brave New World), the series takes place in the universe that first debuted in 2001 with the launch of Xbox’s first Halo game, dramatizing an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant.
Halo stars Pablo Schreiber (American Gods) as Master Chief, Spartan-117 and Natascha McElhone (Californication) as Dr. Halsey, who also both serve as producers this season. Additional returning cast members include Jen Taylor (Halo game series, RWBY) as Cortana, Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), Shabana Azmi (Fire), Natasha Culzac (The Witcher), Olive Gray (Half Moon Investigations), Yerin Ha (Reef Break), Bentley Kalu (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Kate Kennedy (Catastrophe), Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders) and Danny Sapani (Penny Dreadful).
I actually enjoyed the show. I wish they didn’t deviate from the story so much, and I think that was what got the show so much hate, but overall it was good.
I how they find a new home because the dirty was starting to get interesting and I want to know how it ends
So sad to see Halo cancelled! Please find another streaming service to produce the 3rd season or more. Loved the characters!
I tried watching it once. I never played the game so I wasn’t judging it from that. But it was bad.
It’s possible to make a good series from a game, like The Last of Us or Fallout, so that’s not the excuse.
They changed the the story so many times it’s not a surprise when Peter Jackson originally wanted to make the movie he wanted to follow the story paramount didn’t want to and no surprise they failed if they went with the original story as intended there would have been a amazing story and movie hope they learned thier lessons there are small videos made by Peter Jackson on YouTube and they are amazing maybe it could still happen we will never know but we can hope it becomes a reality
For me it is a new approach, Flood was intrpduced much better than in the game, the twsit with ONI and abandoning The Planet Reach was also well written. All in all, the series is only based on Halo games and doesnt need to follow the płot.
Oh my! and here I was thinking I must finish season 2 at some point. As bad as I think it is I really should get back to it. No point now!
