As the Apple Vision Pro is prepped for a launch outside of the U.S., it is likely that the mixed-reality headset will find itself stocked on shelves by retailers hoping to make a quick buck by overcharging customers. One individual spotted the device being sold at an Istanbul airport with a currency-converted price of more than $5,000. Remember that the Apple Vision Pro retails for $3,499 in the U.S. for the base model, so it is ridiculous to witness this level of upcharging in overseas regions.
A ‘Special Offer’ sticker is stamped on the Apple Vision Pro that is retailing for more than $5,000 at the Istanbul airport
A store called D&R had one of its outlets at an Istanbul airport, and as you can tell in the post below, there are various Apple products stocked, including the company’s top-end iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. While Rudrank Riyam did not provide the pricing of these iPhone models, it is likely that people would be more interested in the Apple Vision Pro units placed on top of the glass cabinet. If you happen to be browsing D&R and wanted one of these headsets to become your daily driver, it would set you back by €4,699, or $5,114 if we use Google’s direct currency converter.
We assume that the above price is for the base model, which sports 256GB of non-expandable memory. What is interesting about the post below is that a red-colored ‘Special Offer’ sticker is placed on the Apple Vision Pro, giving potential buyers the impression that the $5,000+ price they are about to splurge on the head-mounted wearable is somehow a steal of a deal. Then again, it is likely not the retailer’s fault because airports are notorious for pricing everything at a premium.

Since D&R likely has to factor in the high rent that needs to be paid to set up shop at these locations, perhaps a portion of that amount is tied in with the Apple Vision Pro. Also, bear in mind that there is an import cost that comes with bringing in such hardware, likely contributing to that €4,699 total. In any case, if you thought the $3,499 asking price of the Apple Vision Pro was too steep, take a gander at this and let us know what you think in the comments.
