The UnaPhone Zenith is Ready to be Manufactured and Guaranteed to Ship.![]()
Are you confident that your conversations and text messages are private?
Are you OK with apps and open Wi-Fi networks downloading and exchanging your personal information?
Are you happy to allow the Operating System and apps to modify your data, contacts, personal information or call logs?
Do you agree to allow your Operating System to monitor every move you make and to log all you type on your phone, and then upload all that data to who-knows-whom servers?
Is it OK for an app to send an email, a text or make a call on your behalf without your prior consent? (especially to strange numbers)
Smartphones are indispensable but are you happy to hand over your life to an app?
Before you came to this page you were probably unaware or even unconcerned about the data that your smartphone is leaking, and you were probably OK with having governments and large corporates storing your data and personal information as long as it’s all in the name of security and hopefully the latest deal or offer, right?
Well the truth is, you don’t have to be a terrorist or a high level Spy to be concerned about the vulnerability of your smartphone.
Because everyday people like you and us are being spied on, not for general data gathering and market research but so that those organizations can make huge amounts of money by selling our personal data and control our daily habits, monitoring our calls, texts, images, locations, emails and personal conversations.

I AGREE TO…
Every time you download an app you agree to the terms and conditions, often enough the requested permission are invading your privacy:
“I agree to let this app read and modify my call log including incoming and outgoing calls data”
“I allow this app to record audio at any time without my confirmation”
“I allow this app to save my calendar data regardless of confidentiality or sensitivity”
“I give this app the permission to modify calendar events and send emails without my knowledge or prior consent”
"I give this app the permission to download stuff without asking me for any confirmation"
“I give this app the permission to read all my contacts details, call logs and text messages “
“I give this app the permission to connect to the internet” and upload all the gathered data to unknown servers eating my mobile internet bandwidth and phone RAM memory without any prior consent!
The list goes on… check for yourself, right now go into any app of your choice and read the permissions out loud, so you can hear how invasive, scary and unsettling they truly are.
But that's not all, when you install a new app on Android 6x (Marshmallow) you aren't shown all the permissions you granted but only the permissions categories. What most people don't know is that in all categories there are sub category permissions, and that some of those permissions are dangerous. If you want to check it by yourself install any app that shows all the permissions, for both installed apps and system apps, and compare with the permissions the phone shows in the settings.
Even worse, the internet permission has completely disappeared, because Google estimates that there's no need to ask you whether you want to grant an app internet access or not since, according to them, nowadays all apps require it. So you install a seemingly innocent flash light or a good looking file manager app, and you may unknowingly give them internet access. There's no way for the non tech savvy average user to know anything about it, welcome to the data mining world!

CAN I PLAY GAMES ON MY UNAPHONE?
If you are an avid fan of mobile games, but have no intention of separating your work and play into different phones, then unfortunately the UnaPhone is not for you. Built to function like a beast, the UnaPhone could load your games in a flash, but we are not willing to sacrifice your security and privacy for those moments of folly.
I WANT TO BE ABLE TO INSTALL ADDITIONAL APPS:
On the UnaPhone Zenith there won't be any possibility for new apps since the whole phone will be completely locked, in order to prevent installations that may weaken the OS and threaten privacy and security. We may release a more opened version for advanced users, where it will be possible to install/uninstall apps, and in that case new apps shall be downloaded through a built-in app store. But we may as well not make such a version, it will depend on how people react to our concept and whether there's demand for an opened UnaPhone or not. That said, business users can request a customized version of the OS with preinstalled apps of their choice. Of course we will thoroughly check the applications provided to ensure they fit our privacy and security standards, and inform the users shall we come across anything that doesn't.
IS UNAOS OPEN SOURCE?
Not yet. But we plan to open the source code of UnaOS in the future.
WHAT ABOUT UPDATES?
We will run updates through an encrypted OTA channel. When a new security threat is detected we will patch the system as soon as possible, to make sure that vulnerabilities don't affect the OS' integrity and security. We will also push updates through OTA for the installed apps, to ensure the user has the latest versions of the apps in use.
WHAT LEVEL OF TESTING IS CARRIED OUT?
We have been testing the Una concept for years now, on a wide variety of different phones, at a time it wasn't even called Una. It's only after we had reached a certain level of clarity and put everything in place that we decided to start the UnaOS project. Android versions have changed in between, but since we already had set the base concept it was fairly simple to adapt it to newer versions (note that the UnaPhone Zenith runs a UnaOS modified version of Android 6.0 (AKA Marshmallow).
WHO ARE OUR MAIN PARTNERS?
Tutanota, our main partner. They have helped us developing the whole concept, and also implemented their end-to-end encrypted mailbox.
We also partner with Elephone, and they are manufacturing our devices.
Elephone is one of the most prominent smartphone manufacturers in China, and they have raised their manufacturing quality to very high levels so they definitely are a reliable partner.
We have also other partners:
Callprotector, a great encrypted communication suite.
WHAT SETS US APART FROM OUR COMPETITORS?
First of all, we are different, because we concentrate all our efforts on the user. We are users ourselves, so we know exactly what kind of problems a user can face. Nowadays, new devices are developed every day, but there aren't much concerns regarding users' privacy and the device security. We saw a lot of scandals in the past years because of data mining and leaking, lost or stolen devices, or just how easy it is to install a new operating system, change the IMEI and then sell a stolen phone. Point is that with UnaPhone you can't do that. The storage is encrypted by default, making data recovery impossible, and the bootloader is locked in order to prevent flashing a new ROM and bypassing the encryption. Customized secure boot, verifies the operating systems and the installed software before the loading, and an integrity check process which is triggered on boot, verifies any bootloader violations. Any attempt to tamper the device will make the device unusable, and basically it will become a useless brick. The UnaPhone Zenith also offers a fingerprint scanner allowing the user to not only unlock the phone, but also to lock securely encrypted files and apps so that they are not only encrypted but locked too. There is even an additional layer of security. The Secure Wipe function. If the user enables it, and the lockscreen pin, password or pattern are entered incorrectly for more than 5 times, the device automatically wipe all the data and return to the default (empty) state, making any data unavailable, even if the device rest encrypted. Second, you mentioned our competitors? No need to name them but look at those companies promising privacy on phones that have the Google apps built-in and pre-set to use Google's DNS, just to name a few of their broken promises, they are like a guy that sells inflatable rubber canoes and swears to his customers that they won't get wet when they paddle. So what sets us apart from them? The fact that our phone is truly private, no Google apps, no Google DNS, no unwanted connections to funny IP’s, no apps calling home, and more importantly, no lies...
