It had 89-inch and 101-inch sizes earlier, and adding the new size will “broaden the range of consumer choices.”
The 114-inch version of Samsung's Micro LED TV costs a whopping KRW 180 million ($132,630 or INR 11,059,408). To those who buy this gigantic TV, Samsung will give away an 85-inch Neo QLED TV (QND900) for free and offer the JBL L100 MK2 speaker at a discount. Samsung is also offering a KRW 3 million voucher to stay at the Signiel Seoul luxury hotel to those who buy the 114-inch Micro LED TV this month.
Micro LED is a new display technology. It is extremely costly but has no disadvantages, as seen in LCD (QLED or Mini LED) or OLED TVs. Like OLED, each Micro LED pixel can create its own color and backlight, resulting in perfect blacks and wide viewing angles. Moreover, it has no organic material, so there are no burn-in issues, as seen on OLED TVs. In the coming decade, Micro LED TVs may get cheaper and replace OLED TVs to become accessible to general consumers.
Kang Jin-seon, Managing Director of Samsung Electronics Korea, said, “Micro LED is the ultimate display that has all the advantages of all TVs on the market. We are expanding the options for consumers who recognize the value of ultra-high-definition displays with the best technology and entering the ultra-premium TV market. We will lead the way.“
